The IDEA Breakdown
 
 

 

The IDEA covers:

-children ages 3-21 who have a disability that is under one of the thirteen categories of disabilities according to the federal government (see 13 categories of disabilities scrapbook page)

 

IDEA needs to be followed by:

-Every public school in every state that has the IDEA.

 

What else does the IDEA provide besides an IEP pan?

-Students will get to learn in their least restrictive environment (LRE)

-Students will be assessed with assessments that are non-discriminatory

 

When do students under the IDEA get assessed?

-Assessment is required to occur every three years

 

Who monitors IDEA regulations?

-The U.S. Department of Education
