Methods of Inclusion "Scrapbook"
This is a webpage created by students from Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. We are a group of future educators who have collaborated to create this webpage after participation in the schools education program class EDUC: 340 Methods of Inclusion. The main purpose of this course is to gain a enthusiastic disposition in engaging with students with special needs in the classroom. Students with special needs are of a wide spectrum from cognitive disabilities, mental disabilities, multiple disabilities, physical disabilities, at risk students, students with IEP, ELL students, visually impaired, hearing impaired, Emotionally disturbed, students on the Autism spectrum and students with 504 programs. Our course was focused on using inclusive practices to create a least restrictive environment for these students in the general education classroom. Teachers have to make accommodations and modifications to include such students in the general education classrooms. Teachers have to collaborate in teams to develop, monitor, and revise student's IEP or other educational plans. Teachers have to be constantly aware of all the students in their classroom, the teachers are responsible for understanding that every education program is not one size fits all, therefor, teachers have to make attempts to provide education in multiple ways to try and make every student successful.

Augustana students in Dr. Bracke's 340-01 class plan a field day at Blackhawk Area Education Center. Smiles were found on all individuals throughout the afternoon while dancing, playing catch, using a parachute, and other outdoor activities. The day was valued by all as a great community building experience. Thank you Blackhawk for kindly giving us an afternoon out of your school day! We enjoyed our time there!
